Moroccan Night
Outstanding success at the library as larger numbers of people than last year attended a presentation by Henry and Vivien Thiessen of their travels and experiences in Morocco. Henry’s narration flowed between a background sound track that enhanced the widescreen video presentation. Community interest included the young and the old as well as newcomers to Swift Current as members of an ESL class came to mingle, view the English presentation and practice conversational English in the social time that followed.
Henry’s love of Morocco was evident in every word. Dressed in a long flowing Moroccan white shirt-coat and a red Fez (hat) Henry shared the Moroccan custom of serving sweetened mint tea with his visitors. He demonstrated pouring techniques learned from tea vendors in his travels.
Wearing a soft cream colored belted shirt-dress Vivien served wedges of Moroccan flatbread on trays around the room. She cut numerous wedges to ensure that everyone in the packed audience was able to taste a sample.
Door prizes given to the audience included hand-carved inlaid wood boxes and other small wood items typical to Morocco and books. Henry left an open invitation to all to discuss plans for their next trip to Morocco. Anyone wishing to travel with them is welcome to do so. The evening was well-presented with style, including sights, sounds and tastes, and a love for Morocco and its people. It was an authentic window into Morocco for those intrigued by travels to distant places.
The evening ended with audience and library staff stacking chairs together to ....................... community spirit in action.

Morroco Night
"I would like to thank you and your staff for all the help and support in the presentation of our Morocco night at the library on November 20, 2008. The display cases for Moroccan souvenirs worked out great I thought, and I felt the tables for the evening of the presentation added a relaxing touch to the ambiance. Thanks to all your staff for their help in setting up, taking tickets, awarding door prizes, and overall insuring that things ran smoothly throughout the evening. I have had many postive comments both for the material presented as well as for the facility in which it was done. Again - my sincerest thanks for everything." Henry Thiessen
